Peter Rouse has been with the firm since 2008 and is an integral member of the team.  Peter is a commercially astute and practical commercial lawyer specialising in franchising, leasing and small business transactions.  Peter has outstanding attention to detail and is committed to ensuring that his clients receive a complete and effective service.  As Team Leader of Franchising and Leasing, Peter’s depth of experience and knowledge allows him to respond to his client’s commercial imperatives.

Corporate & Commercial

Peter is an integral member of the Corporate and Commercial team. His main area of expertise involves the preparation, review and negotiation of business sale contracts and the manifold issues connected with such a transaction. Peter has acted for numerous purchasers and vendors in in a wide range of industries including financial services, machinery and hospitality.  Peter’s focus is on a small to medium size business client base, and he has been involved in business sale transactions upward of $5 million.


With his extensive experience acting for both franchisors and franchisees, Peter is intimately familiar with the interests and concerns present on both sides of franchising transactions. Leveraging from his experience with hundreds of franchising agreements, Peter has devised an exceptionally efficient system for providing advice on franchising matters, which is based on written summary reports that outline the key terms, rights and obligations in plain English. Peter’s services range from establishing new systems from the ground up, amending documentation for Franchising Code compliance, and dealing with the ACCC on franchising matters and structuring advice.

Peter is also experienced in drafting and negotiating leases for landlords and tenants. He is particularly adept at ensuring that his clients understand the wide range of issues that are relevant to leasing transactions.
